What counts as value

  • Refunds paid back by a vendor.
  • Credits applied to an open or future invoice.
  • Offsets against balances the customer would otherwise pay.
  • Vendor-confirmed balance reductions tied to a validated overcharge.

What is not counted as a recovery by default

  • A savings lead that has not produced a vendor-confirmed correction.
  • A pricing observation without a supporting agreement, invoice, payment, credit, or statement record.
  • A duplicate candidate your team rejects after review.

If your procurement or legal team needs a fixed fee definition, define it in the customer agreement before any recovery outreach begins.
